Got this quote off a blog I visit. Had to share it here.
Leo Buscaglia : "The majority of us lead quiet, unheralded lives as we pass through this world. There will most likely be no ticker-tape parades for us, no monuments created in our honor. But that does not lessen our possible impact, for there are scores of people waiting for someone just like us to come along; people who will appreciate our compassion, our unique talents. Someone who will live a happier life merely because we took the time to share what we had to give. Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have a potential to turn a life around. It's overwhelming to consider the continuous opportunities there are to make our love felt."
So often, I sit and feel like I am not doing enough, being enough, making enough of an impact on my world. Afterall , most of the time we only notice or herald those that we see doing big things, so that means we should all be doing big things right? We aren't important unless we are out in the world charging forward , changing things, making a difference. Or at least Oprah would have us believe that most of the time. It is easy to get caught up in thinking we don't matter as much since we aren't doing huge noticeable feats with our lives. Love how this made me stop and remember that everything we do matters. No matter how small we feel at times. Every single person matters. We impact every person we come in contact with daily. A simple act of kindness can change someone's mood, day or perhaps whole week. and THAT is important. I don't simply take care of my home. I create a place where my children and husband can feel happy to come home , safe, warm and loved. The fact of the matter is there are more of us simply *trudging* through our days, expending all of our energy just living our lives, then there are *huge* people in the world. But it is important to believe that that matters. We matter. What we do and say to others on a daily basis, matters. I think one of the greatest biggest accomplishments we do is parent our children and raise them to be healthy respectable nice generous productive members of society - and too me that is a feat rarely heralded but more important than even being president or a CEO of a huge corporation.
Maybe if we all believe that we matter, we can stop *trudging* through the day and appreciate and enjoy even, some of the mundaness of an average life - making a difference a wee bit at a time.
