Today

So, this is what was going on here today..... Braces off!!! C. could not have been more excited. This picture is poor but it is with his retainers. The top one of which glows in the dark, "So you can see me in bed with the lights off mom."
This one is nothing. Nadda. No hardware. He says it feels "weird" without all the wire anymore. It is amazing to me how different he looks already.
And the long awaited Double Bubble. This would be an attempt at a bubble. He had a Nerd Rope at Wawa while we were getting slushies and wasting time until K.'s appointment, then he had some Mike and Ike's, then the gum when we got home. I told him he was going to make himself sick catching up on his candy! He is being very good about taking them out and putting them back in, and is even taking his retainer lisp very well. If I can just get K. to stop asking him to say Mississippi, things will be grand! Let's pray the other teeth we are waiting on to come in, come in nice and straight where we made room, and there will be no need to reapply these babies!
K. found out she will get hers off in 8 weeks, and has marked the calander and started the countdown. RIght now she has a zig zag pattern of rubberbands she has to wear. They are fixing a barely noticeable only if you point it out and tell me slight shift to the left of her lower teeth. Silly if you ask me, but for that amount of money, hey - let's get it perfect!

Would you believe I actually forgot my camera today! Yes, start teasing the scrapper now. The scrapper forgot the camera. There was no way I was missing the shots at the ortho - so we stopped and picked up a disposable. can't share those uber cool pictures until I finish the camera and get it developed. I got a shot of him with the assistant, and the balloons and candy the ortho gives, when all the assistants stand around and sing. It really is a lot of fun. I grabbed these shots when we got home, so I could share them here. In fact, C. asked if I was going to blog about his teeth tonight!

Glow in the dark retainers, also helpful for finding the retainer when it's currently located in the dumpster at your middle school. Or so I thought.

Ok, here's the story. I read your entry and just HAD to share this with you. I had a hot pink retainer. Got it in 6th grade. It also glowed in the dark. Well, certain foods would get stuck above the retainer - between it and the roof of my mouth. So, I occasionally took it out during lunch. No one wanted to look at it, so I covered it with a napkin. Yep, you guessed it - I forgot about it one day. I realized what happened shortly after lunch, but also after the garbage can that I dumped my tray into had been tossed into the dumpster.

Picture it - me and my principal (who always wore a nice suit, not just a shirt and tie) digging through garbage bags that were pulled out of the dumpster. All I did was stand there and sob over and over again "It's hot pink and it glows in the dark..... It's hot pink and it glows in the dark."

I thought for sure my mom would KILL me, and there was no way I wanted to use that thing after it's trip to garbage purgatory. But good ole' Mom to the rescue - she soaked it in bleach over night and after a good rinsing, it was ready for wearing the next day.
