Real Snow!
Not just freezing rain and nuasance snow!
It may be dark, but that hasn't stopped my gang.
They were so excited to finally see some real lay on the ground flakes, I couldn't have kept them in if I tried. The terrific part is that it is still pretty warm, so no freezing blowing wind in their faces while they play.
Right now though the very thin walls of the house (I was out for a while, but mom would much rather man the tea kettle and prep the hot chocolate ) I can hear the giggles of the kids running around the house with the neighbors engaged in a boys vs. girls snowball battle. This age does have in advantages in that they are not longer just toddling around and falling in the snow. They are rolling their own snowmen and having snowball battles. Jim is a big a kid as they are. That is him, rolling his own snowman. The kids gave up half an hour ago. But Jim is still at it. Gotta love that.
Do I feel a wee bit guilty about being in here nice and warm? A wee bit. But I have been in and out and they are playing with their friends, which trumps me any day. I am content to take it in, listen to the laughter and just relish a totally unadultered "ordinary" moment.
*sigh*
