I let the dog out this morning. She was begging at the door, and I soon figured out why. As soon as Zoey hit the deck, a HUGE shadow floated across the yard. I went out to investigate, following Zoey's gaze. And what did I find? This fellow perched on the neighbor's roof. Yup - that would be a blue heron. Most likely wandered over from the resevoir. Most likely attempting to snack on the goldfish in the pond. You really don't realize how huge one of these guys is until you see them this close. I did a fish count and we must have interrupted his breakfast because they are all there.Totally awesome.
