Ouch

Note to self: You are not 21 any more.

I am sore.
I have only been sitting still for 30 minutes.
This means tomorrow morning will not be good.

Got some trees today for the yard and around the patio and pond.(sorry forgot to take pictures) I decided to try to save Jim's neck as much stress as possible and would do the majority of the digging myself. I can do that , right? Well, as my knee was complaining about having to kneel to dig out the big hole, it dawned on me. I twisted it earlier this week playing tennis. Gee, a few years ago, I never would have still felt that today. So I continue to dig, swing the pick axe and haul the dirt. My back is in total spasm and it isn't even morning yet! Alas, I am not as young as I used to be! And the BIG tree comes tomorrow. Oh my.

Jim and I started talking while we were breaking our backs digging. The thought occured to me how much money and, mostly time and energy we have sunk into our gardens and yard. Wouldn't it be so much easier to just have plain old grass? Is it vanity? No - thankfully we don't do it to "keep up with the Jones's", which I don't agree with at all. We do it, simply because we enjoy it. I absolutely love the patio and garden, feel very happy and relaxed there. I think God wants us to take care of our little corner of the world. He wants us to take pride in what we own and part of that is making it beautiful. There is nothing wrong with making our space a little nicer, if we are doing for the right reasons. My garden's make me happy. I can smile when I see all the flowers in full bloom. But I will also say a prayer of thanks that all of the big heavy jobs are done. Because, I will have to go on the record and admit - as much as I hate to do it - that we are not as young as we used to be. I don't believe I will be hauling too much patio brick anymore!
