Real LIfe

Busy busy weekend around this house! Well - not for me....I had my epidural injection Friday and was on Dr's orders to take it easy for the rest of the weekend. It was written in my orders as even "no cooking" on Friday! I had to laugh at that.
J worked all weekend, hours and hours in the heat on the front flower beds and fence. He is such a hard worker. One thing about him that can frustrate me to no end, but also makes me so proud of him too. He tries so hard to give me the things I want - which lucky for him are pretty easy to figure out. My yard, my flower beds, time together.
I took this shot of the chair on the front porch because every year it makes me so happy to see that color. I love osteopernum flowers, especially the orange ones, and mixed with the purple and yellow this pot just makes me happy.

And then there is this....

I asked J if he had taken some pictures of more of his progress on Sunday - He said, no, but K had the camera and was taking pictures....so imagine my surprise this morning when I looked and saw maybe two pictures of Daddy working and about a 100 of these......took me a minute to figure it out.....can you guess what they are doing?
Yup - she is trying to capture a picture of him filling his mouth and spitting the water out. She is trying to catch the water drops....a better back drop to see them and she pretty much nailed it.

Also about a hundred pictures of the dog. This one really popped out at me. She looks like she is looking off wistfully.....actually she was most likely sleeping with the kids in the shade.

This project awaits me tonight......pots and pots and pots of plants to go into my patio pots. Just didn't get around to it this weekend, and I was also not allowed to be bending and picking up the pots....so I will work on it tonight......

And right now as I type the scent of these is wafting in the window. Love that. They are called Timdura(sp?) I believe....the scent is almost like llilac but not quite as flower-y. They won't bloom long and will be full and green the rest of the summer. Nice to fill in around the pond. The bull frog has been croaking out there all morning.
So I sit here. Revelling in the normalness, that makes me so content. Our 18th anniversary is today. We shall spend it eating left overs and spending time finishing the yard work that didn't get done this weekend. But the blessing is that we are perfectly happy with that. One could say it means that we don't care about the anniversary - the honesty is that we still ENJOY doing these every day things together. We will go out to eat alone I am sure maybe this weekend, but we also love just being together every day. That to me is the true anniversary gift. :)
